This week has seen the report of dad Stewart Fleming, 37, who died after having to wait for six hours in A&E despite a letter from his doctor asking that he be admitted urgently.
It was three hours before the man was even seen by the triage team and then another three hours before a bed was found, but all too late.
Mr Fleming from Rainham in Kent, was thought to be suffering from a viral infection that attacked his heart, kidneys and liver.
The father of two, was looking forward to spending Christmas at home with his wife but instead he lay in a drug-induced coma at a hospital in London, where he lost his fight for life.
Mrs Fleming believes that the wait in the A&E department at the Medway Maritime Hospital in Kent, harmed his chance of survival and an internal enquiry into the incident is now taking place.
The NHS is on the verge of a complete breakdown in my opinion and the whole procedure of triage and priority cases needs to be assessed urgently.
In my experience, their has always been a waiting time of around four hours at this particular hospital and most of the patients could quite easily have been seen by their local doctor but insist on having a day out in the hospital department.
Another pointless death and another family destroyed due to negligence and bad management, something needs to be done now!
