Buzzin Disgrace

The Newcastle United midfielder, Joey Barton has been sentenced to six months in prison for a “violent and cowardly” attack on a man last December.

In the early hours of December 27, 2007, Barton, after having drunk at least twelve pints of lager, attacked the victim in Liverpool city centre, punching him up to twenty times as the victim was on the ground.

Not content with such a violent act he then attacked a 16-year-old, punching him and breaking the victims teeth in the assault.

The first attack he carried out with his cousin, Nadine Wilson, 27, which was captured on CCTV. The thug admitted charges of assault and affray last month.

The prosecutor, Ian Harris, told how the attacks had taken place after Barton along with friends and family went into a McDonalds for breakfast. A few verbal exchanges took place with another group of people which continued outside. Wilson who had drunk two or three bottles of wine had become “loud and aggressive” and had sworn at a passer-by who had tried to calm the situation down.

An unknown man was then supposed to have made an offensive gesture to Wilson and she then told Barton. “Barton punched this male with such force he literally come off his feet. An unknown member of the Barton group then kicked him and Joseph Barton straddled him and punched him four or five times.”

“Nadine Wilson joined in, throwing food at the man, and Andrew Barton managed to restrain Joseph Barton and pull him away. But this incident didn’t end there. Joseph Barton continued the assault, throwing about 14 or 15 blows at him.”

Wilson, was given a six-month suspended sentence for affray and another two-months suspended for common assault, Andrew Barton, brother of Joseph, was given a four-month suspended sentence for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He is just another thug and should never be allowed to play professional football again. He will in no doubt be out by the end of the summer and can then continue exactly where he left off, it’s a total disgrace and so is his cousin.
